01.
That’s
The Way I Am
(J. & V. Hermel) 2:27
Indigo
Junction is a no-nonsense gutsy live band on stage. That's The Way
I Am is how they really are, gutsy and dynamic. This song has the
full-on "Rolling Stones" drive.
02.
If
You Ain’t Gonna Rock
(J. & V. Hermel) 2:34
- Classic Rock 'n' Roll song in the style
of the great Little Richard. This song rocks, with Stevie Ray Vaughan
style guitar work and driving bass/drums.
03.
On
The Move
(J.
& V. Hermel) 2:35
Twelve Bar Blues featuring slide guitar and
great "fills." If Robert Johnson was with us today he'd
be the first on his feet to applaud Indigo Junction's raw interpretation
of the "Blues."
04.
Down
Home Girl
(Livin’ With The Blues)
(J. &
V. Hermel) 2:29
- Another
song with the "Rolling Stones" drive, and sweet slide
guitar. Great harmonies and full-on rock.
05.The
Gallows Tree
(J. & V. Hermel / J.Yates) 3:21
- James Yates was hanged in 1850 for
murder. On the night before his execution he wrote a poignant poem,
and words from that poem were used in this rock/ballad of the eternal
triangle. An emotional roller-coaster of regret and resignation.
06.
Bad
To The Bone (G. Thorogood)
(INDIGO JUNCTION version) 4:01
- A full-on cover of the George Thorogood
classic, always a popular inclusion on the show.
07.
Long Train Boogie (J.
& V. Hermel) (Instrumental) 2:11
A brilliantly executed instrumental
featuring Lynette's great drumming and bass-playing as a foundation
to Virginia's outstanding guitar work. Guitarists, take up the challenge!!!
Can you play this without the tips of your fingers smokin' ??????
(Tablature & music included in cover notes!!!)
|
|
08.
Khe Sanh
(Don Walker) 4:18
An
outstanding cover of a "Cold Chisel" classic. A terrific
song re-created with dedication and emotion.
09. House
Of The Rising Sun (Trad.)
(INDIGO JUNCTION version) 5:09
This legendary blues song is arguably in
the Top Ten of The Best Songs Of All Time!!!! Indigo Junction's
version brings to life the raw emotion of the "blues."
10.
Route
66 (Bobbie Troup) 2:57
- Another classic rock song,
performed with passion, and Stevie Ray Vaughan style guitar work.
Put on your rock 'n' roll shoes for this one!!!
11.
Devil’s Train
(J. & V. Hermel) 3:20
- A "rockabilly"
train song!!! Lynette's rockabilly drums, great bass-playing,
and vocal harmonies again compliment Virginia's driving vocals
and brilliant guitar playing. This song "rocks the tracks"
on the way to Hell!
12.
Lonely
Tears (J. & V. Hermel)
3:26
- Ultimate blues!!!! Emotionally
delivered vocals topped off with brilliantly under-stated guitar
solo. Blues at its' best.
13.
I
Already Know
(V. Hermel) 3:32
- Slow, driving rock ballad.
Dynamic vocally and instrumentally, surrounded by the perfect
bass/drum rhythm combination.
14.
Devil’s Peak Boogie
(J. & V. Hermel) (Instrumental) 2:32
- Indigo Junction's performance
of 12 Bar guitar boogie. Virginia's unbelievable guitar run-down
in the 5th segment is played with separate individual notes across
all 6 strings, (from 1st string to 6th string,) at the 12th fret,
(not the "easy way" of sliding from 12 fret to zero
fret on the 6th string!!!!!) Guitarists, challenge yourself!!!!!
- (Tablature & music included in cover notes!!)

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT THIS ALBUM...
BRILLIANT!!!
"As co-writer of many of the songs
on the new Indigo Junction CD, the great challenge was to create
songs with a quality to match
the brilliance of this band. It meant writing dynamic/gutsy
songs with strong vocals and rhythm section, and leaving spaces
for brilliant guitar work. My aim was to get back to the
grass-roots of gutsy classic rock, and I am thrilled with the
result. These women are brilliant"! (Co-writer
Jim Hermel.)
From Barb in WA (text)
"Wow!! Love the CD! Wow!"
INDIGO JUNCTION: Devil's Train (ALBUM REVIEW
- FRANCE)
Virginia
and Lynette present 14 titles: rock, boogie and blues ballads.
In this album, 10 original songs written by Jim Hermel and Virginia
his wife. Multi-instrumentalists, Lynette plays bass and
drums while Virginia is active on piano and lead guitar,
slide and rhythm to interpret 2 instrumentals, Long Train
Boogie (rock fast) and Devil's Peak Boogie (rocky boogie).
Besides these 2 tracks are my favourites to Devil's Train,
train at high speed will lead you right to hell, I Already
Know, one brimming with blues love and desire Lonely Tears
the disappointment and suffering of a woman abandoned. The grungy
rock fan will find happiness in That's The Way I Am and
If You Ain't Gonna Rock (even more hard). Cote R'n'R, appreciates
On The Move and Down Home Girl. Ballad, The
Gallows Tree was inspired by a poem that the murderer
James Yates wrote in his cell to express his regret on the eve
of his hanging in 1850. Among the songs, we love the beautiful
interpretation of The House Of The Rising Sun by the very
convincing mature voices of these ladies, and Route 66
(Bobbie Troup) and Khe Sanh (Don Walker) (country rock).
